In the Paradise

Well Terri says hello, pours a drink

Teddy’s talking sweet to the girls he just met

It’s a shadow of a life down on Ninth Street

A carnival of souls under the neon lights

And it’s another night in the Paradise

Outside the moon is full and the stars are bright

Time stands still in the Paradise

There’s a card game in the corner, black velvet on the wall

Nothing ever changes here, nothing at all

Well Freddy’s talking fast, no one listens to him

It’s a fool’s parade, and they keep on marching in

And it’s another night in the Paradise

Outside the moon is full and the stars are bright

Time stands still in the Paradise

Without hope (people stop living)

Without faith (some have nowhere to turn)

Without love (there’s just emptiness)

But it’s all there in the Paradise

Terri hands Freddy a silk red rose

He looks up at her and smiles- she knows

It’s human kindness like a heart felt kiss

No one needs more than this

And it’s another night in the Paradise

Outside the moon is full and the stars are bright

Time stands still in the Paradise
